Re: Stus-List Tuning my rig

2013-06-05 Thread Marek Dziedzic
Hi Sam,

The rule (measuring tape) technique seems to be the most accurate. maybe the
best approach is to do it once and when completed, use the Loos gauge and
record the numbers. That way you can repeat the same set-up every year (if you
step your mast every spring).

Stus-List 29mkII prop info

2013-06-05 Thread DAVID R MOCNY
The owner of my previous boat a 29 mkII hull #312 needs some prop info. The
boat has a folding two blade that I am pretty sure was factory installed. It no
longer unfolds properly and vibrates. He has found someone in California that
will rebuild it. He is also looking at replacing it. No one he has talked to
knows the shaft size and taper. He also needs the diameter and pitch. Any
information you all can provide will be a great help.

Hi David, I have hull number 506, RH 14x10, 7/8" shaft. Martec, had mine
rebuilt by them due to favorable comments from this list, been great since,
maybe six years ago. I attached a small pic, but it's held up, may not go
through.

Here's one of the better explanations about tuning your rig:

Buy or borrow a Loos gauge. You can't guess this stuff.

Sam :-)

Shut the fuel off. Unscrew the cup. Pull out the filter. Insert a new
one. Fill the cup with new fuel. Screw the cup back on. Open the vent.
Pump the priming/lift pump lever until the filter cup is fully vented.

In case you don't know, the lift pump is on the right side of the engine,
about halfway down and one third of the way forward of the flywheel. It
will be the first thing on the engine that the fuel flows into. The filter
is next in line moving forward. The lift pump should have a little flipper
that you can push up and down to manually prime the system.

Re: Stus-List fuel filter change

2013-06-05 Thread Pete Shelquist
FYI - The last little press of the flipper is where the actual pumping
happens. If this is really short, the pump is probably on the lobe of the
cam. Turn the engine over a bit to get on the flat part. Hope that makes
sense.
