thanks for sharing this. The problem you have solved is partly due to SDCC not having a header file cy7c6801x.h within the distribution. If there had been one you probably would not have (temporarily:) fallen in that trap. At some point (feature request 780570) there was a header file submitted but it did not end up in the distribution.
