I felt like maybe a day or two of work to enable it. I don't know when
someone will have the time to get it done. Anyone can push it forward,
but they will need help deploying and testing.

In the meantime, if a maintainer considers it a big problem to not have
git web page repo, the FSF sysadmins can manually set up one or a few
manually, so that gnu.org/software/some-package gets pulled from a
Savannah git repo until Savannah has the option built-in.
