Could be that the security patches are locking out the "old" VMWare APIs :-(

The server I used in December has been retired, but is still around (yay!). I was able to get the check to work against the original server, which was VMWare ESX 3.02 on Linux. The new server is also VMWare ESX 3.02, but has about 10 security patches applied to it that the retired machine doesn't have. I cannot get the check to work against the newer machine. The newer server I tried against was running Windows on the host system. I have also tried against a linux box running ESX 3.02 and get a different error. The linux box returns the error: Run-time error '-2147220989 (80040203)': Invalid arguments: Login failed The windows box returns the error: Network failure: Cannot connect to host cgyvmserver: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it I have been able to telnet to port 902 on the linux boxes, but not the Windows box. Brett Hanson Systems Analyst, Agrium Inc. >>> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 4/29/2008 1:30:58 AM >>> Brett, When you get that error, are you pointing at the host server? I only get that when I point to a VirtualCenter server or a VM machine. As you say, it may be that at this stage this is all academic - maybe not that much real life use for this check. However, I wonder if there are more in-depth checks that would be useful for VMWare, for which sorting out this one might be necessary...
