Are both IPs able to go the port 25 on that "remote" SMTP server?

The mailserver is another machine on the network. Yes there is antivirus and there would be a firewall on the network (not machine) but when I run a coldfusion script calling the same mailserver using the same to and from addresses and other details – the mail arrives fine. It does appear SA is blocked in some fashion but the ISP cannot think why (and are not trying much to help as they want us to use their remote hardware monitor solution - but it is because of the unreliability of this (and them frankly) we are testing SA). I will have a look again at other software running on the machine – but I know port 25 is open on the mailserver so I thought this would be enough as sending mail via this is unproblematic with coldfusion. Do you have an anti-virus or anti-spam or (personal) firewall running on the system running SA? I have variously used the send direct toggle setting and also ping mail server off and on. Without luck. I am using the latest version of 6 . What else could I be doing wrong?
