Hello How do you use some version of Sage in a class? >
In an Honors Calculus class, I use it both to illustrate concepts from time to time, and to give assignments where students approach certain problems experimentally, trying to guess a conclusion. We also run a "Mathematical Computation" course which is designed to give majors experience solving problems with a computer algebra system; we used to use Maple, but switched to Sage in part to save costs, and the only person who wasn't happy was a faculty member who simply didn't want to learn the new system. Both I and another faculty member have typically run the server from a desktop in our office. The department chair is setting up a new server for the department to use.
