Yup, I shift clicked and got some sort of text editor. So, I editted
something fine, but when I leave that cell for another all that
displays is the text I wrote with some HTML...
What is ctrl click for?

When you open a new cell (by letting the cursor hover over an
existing cell until a blue line appears) instead of just clicking the
blue line,
shift click it. This opens a text window. You'll see all kinds of
possibilities. You can import graphics, paste links, etc. And yeah,
you can use latex. It's actually what prompted me to learn some
latex. It's great. You can do all kinds of stuff.
