The attorney who is currently working on this is leaving UW in 2
weeks.  It could take a long time after that, due to them having to
hire a new person, him/her get up to speed, etc.

That won't happen, since the work should only take a few weeks, max.
The question only makes sense if "work to settle the trademark issue"
takes months or years.
