That would make life a bit easier.

The main question for me remains: Should I try to port my changes and
additions (by the way, I found that the actual changes to the MeatAxe
source are only 180 kB, not 600 kB as I originally thought) to MeatAxe
2.4.13?

Pro: It is generally better to stay synchronized with upstream.
Con 1: There doesn't seem to be much active development on MeatAxe,
and what I do could be considered a fork. So, perhaps I *am* upstream?
Con 2: For me, porting my changes would be a substantial effort, since
most function names have changed between 2.2.4 and 2.4.13.
Con 3: For the project I get my money from, staying with the old
version would be fine. So, why waste resources?

Any more Pros?
