I am hoping that in the not too distant future you will be ba able to "clone" a sage-on-gentoo install and do some development work on it. Of course as William mentioned later you may want to touch other packages than just sage in which case in gentoo that would mean you own overlay and possibly a local prefix if you don't want to get root to update you packages.
