I think the new notebook is just about ready to be tested again. The
results of the testing will determine how close it is to being ready to
release as part of Sage. My hope is that we are weeks away. I hope to
do a lot of testing again next week on it.
That said, most of the new notebook changes are under the hood at this
point, drastically increasing the scalability of the notebook (though we
do have openid functionality in the new notebook, along with a few other
user-visible features). The hope is that once we get this first version
of the new notebook released, we can merge some long-standing new
features into the notebook (like the new jmol, mathjax, etc.). My guess
is that it will be January before we have these huge user-visible upgrades.
