I have been told that (in the US) it is very difficult to set up a 
non-profit and make sure you are and remain in compliance with all rules. It 
would be sad if the first Sage employee would be an accountant/lawyer in 
order to run a non-profit ;-) Having a for-profit legal entity is way easier 
and allows you to spend your money on what you (and not the IRS) think is 
important. Downside is, of course, that you have to pay taxes.
