+1 to this, which also goes along with others' suggestion to consult a
lawyer.

In Melbourne, the university has a research office that deals with
questions of intellectual property, including trademarks.  I think
this is now common practice in research-oriented institutions, so
there must be a similar office at UW.  Maybe it's the following?

They should be much more knowledgeable about this sort of question
than the average sage-devel reader (no offence intended :))
