Hi,

on my PPC Mac with OS X 10.4 and 550MHz / 768 MB RAM, building Sage
takes about a day, doctests take even longer (with many timeouts and
memory problems, e.g. "maxima could not be started" and such). On this
machine, one can't even upgrade to OS X 10.5, since at least 800 MHz
would be needed (the OS X installer checks this somehow). So in order
to use a current Sage on a machine like this, one has no alternative
to OS X 10.4.

Sage-4.1.2.alpha4 did build fine, and seemed to work as good as than
Sage-4.1.1 (which was an official delivery).

I'll have at look at the above issues (mpfr's sage-check might have
been broken for a longer time now).

Cheers, Georg
