Armand Brumer asked me to email you about this sage problem he is
experiencing. I've taken a look at it myself and have no idea what's
going on. We have a clean installation of sage 4.0.1 on an iMac with
Intel Core 2 Duo running Mac OS X 10.5.7. What happens is that a call
to sage will unexpectedly terminate after a few seconds. What's even
more concerning is that the terminal will stop and sometimes even non-
terminal applications that were running will be killed! For example,
Armand was using Firefox to download sage 4.0.2, and when he tried
testing sage 4.0.1 again, the terminal window terminated itself and
killed firefox as well. I just recently tried installing a fresh
download of sage 4.0.2, and here is what I see in the terminal:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
| Sage Version 4.0.2, Release Date: 2009-06-18 |
| Type notebook() for the GUI, and license() for information. |
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The SAGE install tree may have moved.
Regenerating Python.pyo and .pyc files that hardcode the install PATH
(please wait at
most a few minutes)...
Do not interrupt this.

[Process completed]

As you can see, the process terminated prematurely.

Please help!
