I don't know if I have heard of that.     I had a lot of trouble
getting any clue what precisely bitnami really is after browsing their
site for 10 minutes just now.

Cool.   There have I think been many tings like this over the years.
One of the reasons I did this with Sage is that there was some project
discussed on slashdot (maybe it was bitnami?) back in 2005 that did
this sort of install, and it was inspiring.
