I am pretty clueless. Depending on how deep the parent.pyx merge is
and if Robert insists/recommends a coercion patch only release we will
take it from here.

Having thought about it on the train trip to Linz I now believe that
3.1 should be more or less a regular release, but I will likely do an
alpha0 with just parent.pyx patched to valgrind it and catch any
potential regressions that way. But I will wait on Robert to speak up
on this point since it is all his baby and I am sure we can all agree
that his call will be the right one, so I am bowing to the master of
coercion (and his merry band of minions :))
