My interpretation of the existing logo is a visualization of the Euler 
characteristic formula (pointing out edges and vertices). It therefore 
represents an example of a connection between Algebra and Geometry, with 
both representing half of the letters of the name Sage. This seems to be 
lost in your proposal. It makes sense to improve the quality of the image, 
but the message should remain.
