Well, after applying #1289 [*without #1485 applied] we ended up
triggering the same bug on a couple platforms. See #1827 for the "bad"
output. This is probably a long standing bug (#712) that just gets
triggered more frequently now. This is hopefully something we will
resolve during Bug Day 9 tomorrow.
