OK, managed to figure it out... I realised that the 'sage_scripts...' referred to was a package, unpacked it then created a copy in there. I then realised that these scripts just get copied into .../local/bin by make, so I just copied it across, did a 'chmod 755 native-execute', and re-tried. That now seems to work - at least it has brought up a notebook in my firefox window. Sorry about the extraneous stuff while I figured out what to do....
