Read the SPKG.txt file in the clisp package for instructions about
substantially shrinking the spkg.  Look at the section "SOME NOTES".

R should definitely not go into 2.9.  Maybe 2.9.1.

NO!  You have to be a bit more careful if you don't want to have to start
hacking makefiles -- see the SPKG.txt.
