I envision a maintenance nightmare. Does function 'xy' depend on anything outside of Python? Can you even unbundle the stuff that far without big hassles (e.g., the SINGULAR interfaces converts to SAGE MPolynomials)? I really like the comes-with-batteries-included approach of SAGE.
