Review Comment:
   I tested and found out the test suite are passing with or without type 
casting. Removing the casting here.
   
   I might not quite understand your question here, are you asking whether 
`SparkSerDeUtils.serialize` is taking the type info rather than the instance? 
The answer is `serialize` is taking the instance, and it is using java 
serialization underneath; I am not sure how java serialization works but looks 
like deserialization works well with or without the explicitly type casting 
here.
