I haven't tried switching it over to a different controller
yet.  I will try that and see if it helps any.  I am
debating about taking it in to a local computer store to
have the drive controllers checked out.  Most that I've
dealt with either flat refuse to work on something that
doesn't have M$ as the OS, or aren't able to tell me
anything that I hadn't already figured out on my own.
