Geesh!
I must be going nuts. I have finally got RH 7 going with
a successful recompile containing those items necessary for
eventual masquerade. I have a set of scripts for testing
the modem and ppp connection. I keep getting the following
error
" Peer does is not authorized to access remote address
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx "

Now I have never seen this error before, the scripts were
pulled off a RH6.2 machine where they worked flawlessly, and
I can find no meaningful references to 'peer' on the RH
site. I feel sure that is has something to do with user
priveleges. I have set this machine up as root and so far
everything is being run as root.

   my /etc/resolv.conf file is okay
my /etc/hosts.conf file is okay - according to the ref
books I have here

As this will be a masq. machine at the office I have set
the ip address up with a 10.x.x.x for eth0 and a netmask of
255.0.0.0. I am unsure of what the gateway should be
however as this is the gateway machine and whether I should
use ppp0 for dial-up ppp or sl0 when I start using diald as
the default gateway device.

Any help and/or direction appreciated. I have been
through the ppp HOWTO more than once.

TIA

Bob
