I got my screen resolution up to 600 X 800 by playing
with the values in
/etc/X11/XF86Config
for some reason the setup set horizonal sync to 31.5
In my case the value of 30-70 worked well.
When I tried the full range that the monitor could handle
I did not like the results so I cut it back to this.
The Horizonal and Vertical sync rates depend on your
monitor and their are lots of warning that you can
damage your monitor it you exceed its limits so find
the monitor manual before you play. Also if you are
using X11 to logon you proably should change the
line id:5:initdefault in /etc/inittab to id:3:initdefault
I shutdown and rebooted when I changed runlevels
but their is another way to make it change
man init proably will tell you how.
and use startx to launch xwindows atleast while
you are playing with it. Be sure you make backup
copies of any files you change do
cp XF86Config XF86Config.old
You will need to be root to edit these files. This is
based on my experience with a single video card
I have no idea what the double video card does
to this. If anybody no a reason why this would
be a bad idea for him to try please correct me
Thanks
Linda
