Hello to all who reads this,

I am a Linux Newbee (I've read that word someware) so I really don't know
what to do.

A while ago I have installed Redhat 6.1 next to Windows 98 (Lilo Dualboot).
However I having problems with the resolution.
I'm running Linux on about 320x640(?)x60(?).
As you can see I'm not sure about the resolution since I'v never had a
computer/OS with such a resolution.

Windows (on the same machine) has a resolution of 600x800x72.

My question is: How can I change the resolution to (at least) 800x600x70?

I've allready tried the Xconfigurator, but it just gives back a lot of
errors. And when I skip all the tests, X Windows refuses to start up and
also gives a lot of errors. I haven't got a printer attached to my Linux
computer so I have to copy them by hand. I could sent a copy on request, but
I sincearly hope you can figure it out, without it.

I would be greatfull to anyone who can help me to solve this problem.

I think It wouldn't hurt if you go easy on the technical details.
I am really new to Linux and don't even know how to install or copy a
program or file.

I've written down the specs of my computer someware further down in this
mail in case they would help.
(In case you are wondering how i get on the internet. I have a second
computer with access to the Wide Web)

Alltough I'm new to Linux, I suspect that the graphicscard is somehow not
compatible.
At least I think I someware saw something like: "Diamondcards are not 100%
compatible 'cause Diamond won't give the specs of their cards so we (I think
Redhat) could improve our drivers for Linux."

computer specs:
AMD K6-2 3DNOW!
Epox mainboard
98MB DIMM (bios-information)
Diamond Stealth II, 4MB, PCI, graphicscard
Diamond Voodoo II, PCI, 4 mb, add-on graphicscard
NE2000 Realtech UTP Network-card (Don't blame me for this choice. It was
cheap)
Win-tv TV-card (don't think it will work under Linux, got it just before
yesterday)
Crystal SRS Soundcard (don't know if it works. havent tried it yet)
Logitech trackball
Logitech ergonomic keyboard

If it is not too much to ask. Maybe you could provide me with some
information on the problems I could face with this computer setup.

I don't think the Win-TV will work, but what do I know.

I think you've figured out by now that my engish is not perfect. I can hear
you think: "Not by a longshot."
But I hope you can forgive me for that (I hope) smal problem.

Thanks anyway.
