VERY few RPM files will not work on older releases and these are usually
core items that require at most 2 or 3 other package updates. If it were
not so, then releases would never be updated.
The long and short of it, unless it's tied tot he core libs, it's a
standing rule that the RPm is applicable to the older releases unless
they EXPLICITLY state otherwise. I've yet to see this be the case. So
there is your rule set to live by with Red Hat Linux. They won't
announce every single little release that an RPM applies to, only those
it won't... usually.
