I finally got my 9.1GB SCSI drive on which I am trying to install Linux.
This will be a Linux only system. Until now I was using a borrowed 1.7GB
IDE drive. I installed RH5 on the SCSI (sda) and get through the whole
process. I reboot and log in as root, mount the IDE drive to copy some
config files to save time.

I then install the linux-2.0.31 source rpm from the CD, patch it to 2.0.33
and compile a new kernel. I do everything through make zImage and make
modules and make modules_install. I copy the Image to /boot/vmlinuz-2.0.33.
I edit /etc/lilo.conf to make a new optional kernel called trial and then
run /sbin/lilo.

At this point I get the message

Warning: /dev/sda is not the first disk
                Added linux *
                Added trial

When I try to reboot, instead of LILO: I get the 010101010...

What is the problem? Do I need to remove the IDE before editing lilo.conf
and running /sbin/lilo? Help, please...

I can still boot off the IDE drive and mount /dev/sda if there is something
that can be edited manually.
