I've got a nicely humming, heavily modified RedHat 4.2 with a 2.1.96 SMP
kernel. I want to use glibc for development, and so far no-one has
provided any tips on how to install glibc on a RedHat 4.2 system without
having to upgrade to 5.0. Unfortunately from what I've read on this
mailing list, the upgrade from 4.2 -> 5.0 is far from painless. I hope
RedHat will improve the upgrade process from 4.x systems, since I really
don't want any significant downtimes due to some stupidities in the
upgrade process.
Any comments on this from the people in the know?
