Reasonable question. No, it is _not_ an ide cdrom interface that
I'm using. But I do have one of those at home, and ide interface on
a SB vibra16S card. They work well and I can install from them
out of the box.
But this particular cdrom is definitely on old CDR-263 (or whatever
specific model) 2X or 4X panasonic hanging off it on the _panasonic_
interface. If I boot something like tomsrtbt and load the sbcd.o
module, then it works. I am aware of the difference.
(Heh, lately I seem to be dealing with a lot of older software.
It would be folly for redhat to start to regard old hardware as
obselete stop giving native support for it.
The fact that XFree86 4.0 has dropped support for legacy video
cards is a real worry. But what does please me is that the older
3.3.6 drivers with that support are included in the distribution.
That is a very, VERY good move. Thanks for that. This legacy
support needs to be kept there for a long time to come...
But I want to know how I can get the installer's kernel to easily
load that sbcd.o driver module!
Can anyone tell me??? please...
