is this a joke, as in "RH doesn't think NTFS should be considered a valid
fs"? i seriously hope not. i hate MS as much as the next guy, but some
of us are forced to use their stuff in the course of our work...
the fact is, that under RH6.0, 'fdisk -l /dev/hda' gives
Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 523 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 497 3992121 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2 498 523 208845 6 FAT16
clearly NTFS is a well-understood fs type under recent linux
distributions. at the very least, it has a easily-read ID...
i stand by my statement that this is a very lame bug, and will cause
repeated hassles for me (we have lots of NT/RedHat dual boot machines
around here).
i am sorely disappointed in Red Hat's QC.
the fact that their "official CD" will most likely have this same bug is
making me regret the advanced order i placed with them for their $80
bundle.
and, of course, Red Hat would never dream of sending replacement CD's to
customers that were saddled with a turkey.
sorry for sounding pissed, but i am. i still think Red Hat is a fine
distribution, but this bug is simply inexcusable.
