This image is therefore only used when autobooting from dos/windows. 
Not when booting the CD directly from bios.

You can go three ways now

1) test it by booting dos or win'95 and running the autoboot.bat file

2) Actually placing the initrd.img on the right spot. For this you 
should make a boot-floppy-image and reference that as the boot-image
in mkisofs.

3) copy the boot-image to a floppy and boot from floppy.
