There have been these off grid rumors in Florida that it is illegal . However, I have done a lot of off grid systems in Florida where there was no grid connection AND some utilities have pulled their lines in rural areas over DISPUTES ( the utilities being outrageous in my opinion) and the customer converted to OFF GRID . A lot of hunting cabins for hunters are off grid and usually hybrid systems . It is illegal anymore for utilities to run power lines to islands in Florida - this is an effort to keep developing OFF Florida’s island . The owners of the island go solar propane bottles and hybrid generators. Their are a lot of small off grid systems in Florida and a few large ones I know of AND as the tiny house movement grows it should get bigger .
