This is the major disadvantage of diesel over propane. Diesel can be corrupted with bacteria, water through condensation and algae. Fuel polishing is the process to clean the diesel and remove the contaminants, the equipment is expensive so it is normally done as a service. If the fuel goes bad, it can ruin the injectors and pump, requiring a very expensive service. Propane dissipates in the engine, and propane stores indefinitely without degradation.
