From what I have heard, which is not
definitive: the consequences of the multiple meltdowns/explosions
at Fukushima-Daiichi as a consequence of the tsunami are that
Japan closed all or nearly all of its nuclear power plants. It has
always been a country with severely limited natural resources, and
energy resources have historically been imported. Within a single
year or so Japan moved to being the top PV market in the world.
Sanyo/Panasonic chose to dedicate all of its production to its own
domestic market, leaving nothing for the US. market..
That makes sense to me.

marco,
We used to stock Panasonic. I first heard about this in
February when I tried to reorder inventory. I was told by a
distributor that Panasonic increased the minimum order. Every
one I contacted had no intention of ordering them due to this
new minimum. In contacting Panasonic back in Feb. they told me
they were working it out with Sunwize. Now they no longer reply
to phone or email messages.

Regarding Panasonic Solar news, this
is the first I’ve heard of this. Anyone know why
they’re no longer distributing in the U.S.?
