Hi Dana, If the Trace model is SW, it will not be approved for selling if it was manufactured prior to 2002 (non-GTI model). If the batteries need to be replaced, the added expense may be considerable depending on the size of the bank. I guess it depends if the customer really wants backup. You may want to consider reconfiguring the array in series and go with a grid interactive inverter, such as the Conext TX2800, which will work fine with a 1.9kW array (24 in series). Other replies to this post indicate the array is not easily accessible, which can present it's own set of issues. I guess it boils down to what the customer wants. You can always sell the Trace inverter to someone off grid and use the proceeds toward a new grid-tie inverter. Sent by: re-wrenches-boun...@lists.re-wrenches.org I have a client eat has a 24 - Solarex SX 80 PV module system that was off grid, Trace inverter, APT Power panel and an very aged L-16 battery bank. The utility came in and he wants to go grid tie. It is or was only 960 watt originally. I realize that an array rewire is in order and it may only be a 1 KW system but he is interested in getting the equipment upgraded. Has anyone done a grid tie with such a small array and with modules this old? Any thoughts on installing sealed batteries and leaving it alone? ____________________________________________________________________________ Dana Orzel Great Solar Works, Inc - NABCEP # 051112-136 d...@solarwork.com - www.solarwork.com O - 970.626.5253 F - 970.626.4140 C - 208.721.7003 "Responsible Technologies for Responsible People since 1988" ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the Symantec Email Security.cloud service. ______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________ List sponsored by Home Power magazine List Address: RE-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org Change email address & settings: http://lists.re-wrenches.org/options.cgi/re-wrenches-re-wrenches.org List-Archive: http://lists.re-wrenches.org/pipermail/re-wrenches-re-wrenches.org List rules & etiquette: www.re-wrenches.org/etiquette.htm Check out participant bios: www.members.re-wrenches.org
