I really like the look of the Paul Thumbies, but I don't understand why more folks don't opt for vintage thumbies like Shimano Deore or Suntour XC thumbies (especially if you prefer friction shifting)... They're specifically built for that purpose and I think they're some of the best-built components ever. If you've got a set of bar-ends that you need to re-purpose or are running 9-10 speed indexed, then I get it. But buying a new set of Paul Thumbies and shifters can also run you $150.
Something about those old shifters... I often find myself sitting in front of a fire, glass of brandy in one hand, polished Deore thumbie in the other, playing that beautiful click-click music, calming my soul. *(I have also been known to do this with a freshly polished old hub, which I keep in my desk bottom drawer for times when the world's problems pile up and I need to... just sit and contemplate...) * Peace, BB On Saturday, December 28, 2013 3:28:03 AM UTC-5, Philip Williamson wrote: > > The short amount of time I've used reverso levers have been on fixed gear > bikes, so I didn't have to deal with shifter placement as well.
