You've almost got me convinced -- but not quite. Pure aesthetic perversity makes me see a second chainring as clutter. Longer dropouts, or even the current dropout moved 1/4" forward -- should be easy for a builder to do, no? -- will give me a 3 cog tolerance. Of course, builder will also have to move the cs bridge forward 1/2 or 3/4 ", but as The Deacon said, simplicity is complex.
Oh well, it's time to have the Riv powdercoated (nicely! The Herse was beautiful!) anyway, and it needs a few other brazing alterations.
