While I am trying to convince my wife to get a Betty, I was thinking about
an Albatross with bar-ends conversion for her Raleigh comfort bike. Why?

She is having trouble with the stock twist index shifters. The bike grinds
away during shifting and throws the chain pretty regularly.
Did it when it was new and still acts that way. Though narrowing the travel
of the FD cage seems to have helped the chain stay on better.
The bike came with Tourney RD, FD is a numbered derailer of some grade.
Triple up front, 7-speed in back.

I was thinking that Albas and Silver friction bar ends would solve the
problem and make shifting a breeze. Doable? Or am I missing something? I
would think the Silver shifters would work fine with the derailers?
