Questions for y'all about the Pugsley: 1. Have any of you used it as a single speed? If so, what gearing? I *do* miss my off road singlespeeds. With the Monocog 29er I ran a 63" gear which was just about perfect. With my old Diamond Back 26er (both M and DB ran 60 mm Big Apples in the appropriate BSD) I ran 60", but I think that the better "roll-over-it" quality of the larger wheels asks for a higher gear.
2. Can anyone post a link to a description of a longer-distance ride, describing how the P fared compared to your typical mtb, 26" or 29"? FWIW, I briefly ran a 60" fixed on the DB and, while it was fine on uphills and dirt flats, it was hell on smooth, flat surfaces (the 175s helped make it miserable). Talk about flailing away to no avail -- Sysiphesian, I think is a good qualifying term -- an activity to illustrate the desperate and hopelss meaninglessness of ife. I quickly changed it to a ~65" freewheel with 170s and that turned it into a very sweet all rounder. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
