Thanks mike!

Yeah, that's kinda the test. There are posts which never hit the list that
land squarely in that genre. Usually by a newer member asking about
something how something they've seen on one of the various uber-discount
sites compares to something on another site. And those newer members are
also very excited by RBW offerings, but don't yet have a feel for the
topics we discuss. Most of those people have become contributors to more
on-topic threads.

Last year, when Grant was set up at the Warming Hut down near the Golden
Gate Bridge, chatting with folks about "Just Ride", an older guy who hadn't
ridden in a while wandered over. I think a friend had encouraged him to
seek out the event. He was excited by the book and the idea of just
getting out there again. His budget was around a grand for a new bike, and
after chatting a bit about what he had ridden, Grant recommended a Surly,
talked about getting bars up in a useful position and making sure he had
large enough tires so that he didn't get beaten up. There was no hard sell
about Rivendell, and it took a bit of prompting by this person to get GP to
talk about the bikes he designed. He did talk about lugs, steel, what is
behind his designs and a bit about the Riv philosophy. It was classy.

Certainly, most of us have a Run-What-You-Brung attitude, and that's a good
thing.
