Today was a major transition day. I trimmed and mounted the bedroom doors, thus bringing an end to a renovation project that has occupied me since new years; cleaned my shop; put in an order for vegetable seeds; and took the new to me Saluki for an hour and half shake down cruise. Given temps in the hi 30s, I skipped the screaming down hill test.
It is with very mixed emotions that I have to report that this bike is in much better condition than I am! The bike came to me with the 600 HS, PW bottom bracket, Riv wheels & Pari Moto tires, Mafac levers, as well as a beautiful, classic Specialized crank, VO AL. fenders and racks Unfortunately, I needed to replace the Nitto Pearl stem with something shorter and decided to try a Mark's Bar. ( the jury is still out on the latter) I swapped out a nice pair of classic pedals for my White Ind & Bruce Gordon clips, replaced a hi polish tektro brakes with my neo-retros, and Deore detailers for older campy Centaur & Mirage. Early, Selle Anatomica saddle. As I was headed out, it occurred to me I should take some pics before this dog rolled in mud. My quick photography doesn't do it justice but the slide show comes closest to capturing the nice paint job.
