Wow...go figure...my X100 is arriving Friday. There's a carnival near my
apartment this weekend so my first shots will probably be there - lot's of
color, people, lights, etc.

I asked about climbing because this is more or less in the neighborhood...

Lots of folks do it, but it is a fair bit of climbing in a short distance.
If you think you'd be interested I'll the route to and from the start.
That's only a couple of miles from your hotel. I actually live right near
the start.
