Eh...that's a bit of hyperbole (the hardest 100 in America)...last year, my 
first doing it, I rode it on a 30lb+ fully fendered IGH Bob Jackson, took a 
few wrong turns, but easily finished.  That said, I wasn't riding at warp 
speed, as so many people were; yeah, to keep up with the speedsters, it 
might be a hard ride, but to do it over the course of a leisurely day...as 
long as your gears are low enough, and it's not your first long ride / first 
dirt ride...it's fine (that said, my pal who did it with me registered 
11,000' of climbing; compared to out west, sure not that much, but all on 
New England dirt pitches straight up and down).  It's fun, there are a lot 
of great people with great bikes there, and the party at the end was lovely 
too.

That said...I still think there's nicer riding in my neighborhood, Berkshire 
County.

Perhaps a meetup at the d2r2?
