Greetings from North Yorkshire. Was wondering yesterday: What is the *legal* method for overtaking motor vehicles on a bicycle in the US? I've done it many times; I was just wondering if it was legal in America. Here in the UK, "filtering" (riding between lanes of traffic) is a way of life for motorcyclists and cyclists. I am aware that it is legal in California, but no other American state. We overtake cars on a bicycle or motorbike by passing on the right, in the same lane, if possible, but you can also ride for a bit in the oncoming traffic lane, if you dare.
