You seem to only acknowledge that oil is for burning. However, oil is used for far more than burning for energy to power our cars, make electricity, etc. For example, almost all plastic and rubber is made from oil. Fertilizers that enabled the green revolution (this has nothing to do with being eco-friendly) are mostly made from fossil fuel (natural gas), so you are essentially eating oil. Even fairly recent innovations like pharmaceuticals are made from organic compounds that are derived from oil. This entire world basically runs on oil, and I'm not only taking transportation. It is surprising that not more people realize that.
