Beth, Below is my experience with your questions.
a. I have my light mounted to a plastic SKS fender. Has been on there since Sept 09. This bike is ridden most days and is my touring bike. No issues to date. b. I routed mine inside the fender. Taped it up with black tape, Gorilla brand. Then drilled a small hole next to the light and ran the single wire out and connected it to the light. Since the fenders were plastic the ground circuit didn't work so I ran a short length of wire from the ground lead of the light to one of the fender stay bolts. c. Mine is mounted to the fork crown. Bike has linear brakes and low rider racks. The light clears both of the handlebar bags I use. Rear light mounted to fender -- how many of you have mounted one to a (gasp!) plastic fender and how long did it last there before getting beaten up beyond repair? b. Wiring: for those kids not cool enough to have it routed internally, do you like it mounted on top or underside of tubing? c. Front light mounting: How many of you don't normally use a small front rack but specifically installed one to protect the headlight? And how many of you just went with a fork crown mount sans rack? Just curious, playing around with some set-up ideas.
