FWIW, my ex-wife and I bought a used KHS mtb tandem that had been
converted to 622X28 or so using short reach calipers; this for touring
-- don't ask me why. I converted it back to 559 using short V brakes.

Now I am engaged in a heartrending custody battle trying to get it
back so my daughter and I can ride together.

(Juuuuuust kidding about "battle," OK?)
