Steve: Thanks, I SURE don't mind not spending... I have lots of experience with cantilever and disc brakes, although admittedly I've never really owned a pair of linear pull brakes (if you can believe it), so I'm really just trying to figure out if this is one area where you really don't need to spend money to get excellent performance (not marginal, excellent)... After all, life is too short to ride with sh***y brakes.
I think I'm going to go with the Avid Single Digit 7s... the reviews have been excellent, and I can pick up a full set F/R for $40. With the money I save I can really splurge on, say a nice rack or bag!
